Choose a Venue
A memorial service can be held anywhere, such as a
church, funeral home, private home, beach, public
meeting space, etc. The key is to choose a venue that is
large enough to accommodate the number of people
you intend to invite. Also, you can choose a place that
you feel was significant to the deceased.
You can have the service at the crematorium that
performs the cremation. Most of them have a chapel or
a special room where you can hold your service.
You may want the service to be held at sea if you want
a scattering of the cremation remains at sea. People
can pour the ashes into the water from a boat or a
ship.
You can opt for biodegradable urns, put some ash in
them and place in the water. They will dissolve and
release the ashes.
A sky lantern can also be used outdoors. Each guest
writes a note to the departed and places it inside the
lantern, along with some of the ashes.
